Eco Town is based in the Environmental Education Centre at Farington Waste Recovery Park.
During your visit to Eco Town you will discover different ways of recovering valuable resources from household waste and how to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Reduce
avoiding creating waste in the first place
Reuse
using something again, for the same purpose
Recycle
a process involving energy where old materials are used to make new things
What is Eco Town?
Eco Town is an exciting environmental education experience. It is divided into three districts; Materials, Mechanical, and Bio, featuring 13 streets for you to explore.
As you make your way through these districts you will see first hand and learn about the processes we use to sort the waste so it can be recycled into something new or even renewable energy.

The Districts

Materials District
In the Materials District, materials which can be recycled and have already been sorted at home can be prepared and sent off to be recycled into new things.

Mechanical District
In the Mechanical District, machines are used to separate materials according to their properties and sent away to be recycled.

Bio District
And finally, in the Bio District we talk about ways of reducing and recycling food waste, composting, litter and how we process organic materials to produce biogas for energy, and a form of compost.
